The Dallas Cowboys head to the Big Apple this Sunday, October 25 when they take on the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey in a huge NFC East showdown. The Giants dropped a 27-7 decision to division rivals the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night while the Cowboys had week six off with a bye. This leaves the Eagles and Giants tied at the top of the division with 3-3 records while the Cowboys are sitting in third place at 2-3 on the year and are still without number one quarterback Tony Romo and wideout Dez Bryant.

  • Bovada currently lists the Giants at -3.5 at -105 with the Cowboys +3.5 at -115 with the over/under at 45.5 points with both at -110

Last week’s bye came at a good time for Dallas as they’ve been struggling without the injured Romo with three straight defeats. The Cowboys beat the Giants in their season opener at home earlier in the season, but Romo was in the lineup back then. It looks like head coach Jason Garrett is leaning towards starting third-string quarterback Matt Cassel this weekend instead of backup Brandon Weeden. This is because Weeden threw just one touchdown and was picked off twice in his starts and hasn’t passed for more than 250 yards yet. Cassel could be a gamble too since he’s not a regular starter and hasn’t had a quarterback rating for the season of more than 82.0 since 2010.

Cowboys’ running back Christine Michael may be used even though he’s rushed for just 259 yards on 54 carries so far in his career. The offense is still hurting, but the defense was boosted as defensive end Greg Hardy returned to the lineup recently along with linebacker Rolando McClain. The pass rush should be better now and will try to jump all over Giants’ quarterback Eli Manning. The Dallas secondary has just two pickoffs this season though. On the bright side, Dallas hasn’t been beaten by the Giants in their last five meetings. Their last loss to them was back in 2012.

The Giants were sloppy against the Eagles and paid for it. Manning had an uneven outing as he went 24 for 38 in passing for 189 yards with a touchdown and was also picked off twice. He’s now thrown an interception in each one of his last three contests. The Giants’ running weren’t able to help out too much either as the Giants managed just 81 yards on the ground on Monday. They’ve run for 456 yards this season for an average of 3.6 each carry, which is the league’s third-worst mark.

The defense had a decent game though and caused four turnovers. However, the offense failed to take advantage of them. New York’s front seven had trouble with the Eagles’ DeMarco Murray as he ran for more than 100 yards even though he averaged just 32.5 yards a game before they met. Manning will be glad to be back home as his pass completion mark is more than 72 per cent at Met Life with a 110.9 quarterback rating. His completion rate is 56.3 per cent on the road with an 81.0 quarterback rating. This is a huge game for both teams, but Dallas has a real shot of pulling an upset here.
